Night time loading at RAF Akrotiri to supply our troops in Iraq and the Middle East (January 2018)

Simon Miesegaes (pronounced Mee-zee-gas!)

Simon (aged 55) was brought up in Inverness until he was 8 when his family moved to Whatcote (near Shipston-on-Stour) in 1975.

Following a PPE degree at Oxford, Simon qualified as a Chartered Accountant and has been involved in the IT and railway industries.

He is married to Lucy and they have two adult daughters and a teenage son.  Simon is an RAF Reservist with 4624 Squadron (Movements) based at Brize Norton and has recently returned from a 5 month unaccompanied tour with the RAF based at RAF Akrotiri.

Simon and his own family have lived in Warwickshire since 1999 and have been involved in many Warwickshire activities.  He is a Trustee of Shipston Home Nursing (SHN), attends Crimebeat Trustee meetings in an ex-officio capacity and recently completed a walk and canoe trail from the source of the River Stour at Wiggington Heath to where it joins the River Avon (in aid of SHN and other charities) - there is, he believes, more to do!

Simon is Treasurer of All Saints Church, Honington.

Simon's interests are in the many rural activities which Warwickshire offers, aviation, theatre and cycling.

In 2018, he and fellow members of his Squadron raised £52,000 for SSAFA during the bucket collections at the '5' Battle Proms Concerts, including the one at Ragley Hall in Warwickshire.

Upon his appointment, Simon commented “It is a huge honour and privilege to have been nominated and I look forward to serving the County of Warwickshire and its diverse communities and citizens, so many of whom quietly give so much of their own time to support local and County activities.”
